CTPI-R was developed on the basis of different theoretical and empirical models of personality at work, by considering the dimensions measured by existing personality questionnaires as well as the conceptual criteria used for other successful Central Test tools (namely the Professional Profile-R and the Occupational Interest Inventory).

CTPI-R and Equal Opportunities
Equal opportunities represent a critical consideration for any modernday work assessment, and an assessment is only considered to be truly valid when it is appropriate for use with different groups. The CTPI-R is a fair and accurate measure of critical thinking, and HR practitioners and psychologists can be confident of its application.
It is particularly appropriate for the assessment of individuals holding a post-graduate diploma (Master's degree or higher) as well as for managers, although the content of the CTPI-R relates to personality characteristics that can be pertinent to various occupational fields.
However, due to the dimensions being measured, it is less suitable for the assessment of people with certain occupations (or who are being recruited for certain occupations), such as production line work or clerical positions.
The main reason is that most of the personality dimensions included in the CTPI-R are meant to predict managerial performance (e.g. Control/Power or Developing others), which is not necessarily relevant to all types of occupations. The language level of some items can also be inappropriate in the assessment of people with a lower mastery of the English language.
Statistically significant differences between females (n = 3691) and males (n = 8593 were found in 15 of the factors of CTPI-R as part of a study to check for differences in scores between genders . Across all of these factors, males scored higher than females.

This test works with all modern computer operating systems including Windows, MAC-OS and Linux and no supervision required to administer the test. A PDF version of the questionnaire is available on request. An administrator must manually enter candidate responses into the online platform to generate reports.
The test was designed to be easily used by individuals from diverse backgrounds and those with a range of special needs. All test-takers are able to adjust visual screen specifications based on individual requirements. Alternatively, for blind candidates or those with severe visual disabilities, items may be read aloud by a trained administrator. Individuals with hearing impairments are not excluded from taking the questionnaire since all content is presented visually.
There is no set time limit. The average time for completion is 25 minutes Therefore, individuals with learning disabilities are able to take the time they need to complete the assessment.
Central Test guarantees the security and confidentiality of data generated during the administration of online tests. Access codes are encrypted in the database and cannot be accessed by anyone. Passwords are computationally generated and are not visible to companies. A URL rewriting module (secure link generator) is installed and has transparent parameter passing for the user.
Browsing and data exchange via the Central Test application can be secured and encrypted using SSL. Secure browsing is guaranteed by the https protocol. Our application has a « GeoTrust SSL True BusinessID » digital signature, issued and certified by GeoTrust©. This certificate is irrefutable evidence of our serious attitude towards security and protects all our assessments from phishing attacks. Invitations to take tests are made via secured links that are of limited use. The tests are timed, and IP addresses are tracked. Access to questionnaires may be limited in terms of numbers and duration.
The internal reliability of the 20 factors of the CTPI-R ranges from 0.45(Visionary) to 0.77(Experimental). The average reliability coefficient for the test is 0.59.

Note: The SOVA Cognitive ability tests (verbal, numerical, and logical) are timed tests although the time is not present on screen. Therefore, we ask candidates to work as accurately and as quickly as they can – remember, ability tests measure maximum performance.
